Avenson, Oakley & Cope is deeply saddened by the recent passing of the firm’s founder, Don Avenson. Don Avenson served at the Iowa State Capitol as a legislator and lobbyist for 45 years, including eight years as Speaker of the Iowa House, the longest serving Speaker in Iowa History.
Don was a giant at the Capitol whose influence impacted all he touched. Even more importantly, he was a dear close friend to so many, no matter their political affiliation.
The work of Avenson, Oakley & Cope will continue under a new name of Cope Murphy + Co., with Tom Cope joining forces with Jon Murphy to provide government relations services in Iowa. Brice Oakley also continues to assist the firm in numerous ways.
Cope Murphy + Co. will soon have a new web site in place.
